National Seminar cum Workshop on BIOINFORMATICS
Sponsored by DBT, Govt. of India and University of North Bengal

Date: March 1-5, 2019

Venue: NBU Bioinformatics Facility

Advancement of genome sequencing technologies has revolutionized biological research. Plethora of information regarding genome profile can now be mined with the availability of fully-sequenced genomes. This has opened doors for the use of computers as indispensable tools in analysis of biological informatics. Thus, a new discipline, Bioinformatics, has emerged. Bioinformatics is defined as the application of computational techniques to understand and organize the information associated with biological systems and macromolecules. Modern day inter-disciplinary research in biology is improbable without bioinformatics. Keeping this in mind use of bioinformatics resources and tools have been incorporated in the syllabus of undergraduate and Post-graduate courses of biology. Hence this workshop is an ideal platform for the faculties as well as research scholar to get familiarize with the various tools of bioinformatics and their use in basic research.

Seminar Theme: Microbial diversity and environment- a bioinformatics perspective

Workshop Theme: Teaching of Life Sciences through Genomics, Proteomics and Bioinformatics
